  •  Team PEI Tennis defeated Team New Brunswick this morning 5-1. PEI advances to the quarterfinals in a match with Ontario tomorrow morning.

10:00 Softball – Qualification round – PE vs NL

  • In the qualification round, women’s softball defeated the host Team Newfoundland and Labrador 6-3. The girls came out strong with Carly Gauthier hitting a three run home run and it was directly followed up by another home run from Emmalee McGuigan.

10:40 Baseball (M)

  • Qualification round – PE (1st in Group B) vs British Columbia (1st in Group A) – winner moves onto the semi-finals August 15th, loser advances to the Quarterfinals August 13th.
  • After going 4-0 in round robin play Men’s baseball had a historic win against Team BC to go directly to the semifinals. Alex Curran pitched a complete game for Team PEI allowing only 5 hits for a final score of 3-1. Team PEI Baseball has never previously medaled in baseball at the Canada Games and will compete for a chance to do so later this week. The only medal ever won for a team sport at the Summer games for Team PEI was in 1993 for men’s softball.

  • Women’s Rugby faced off against Team Quebec this morning and with a final score of 35-0.

13:18 Rugby 7s (M) – Consolation round – PE vs YT

  • Men’s rugby won 43-0 against Team Yukon in the consolation round.

15:24 Rugby 7s (W) – Consolation round – PE vs SK

  • Women’s rugby fell short to Team Saskatchewan with a 20-0 loss.

16:30 Rugby 7s (M) – Consolation round – PE vs MB

  • In their final game of the week men’s rugby finished off on a high defeated Team Manitoba by a score of 33-7.

17:30 Basketball (W) – Qualification Round – PE vs MB

  • Team PEI played a strong game against Team Manitoba, securing a 76-52 win that will advance them to the quarter finals.
